It’s finally happening. After much browsing, comparing, browsing again, pondering palettes and position in this room versus that, you have picked out a chic new addition to the home. A stylish new sleigh bed? A charming chaise? A darling dining set or marvelous master bedroom array? Whatever you choose, it’s chosen with care and eagerly awaited. It’s understandable to want to take it home straightaway, be it balanced in the back of a truck or roped down on the car, and tackle the assembly yourself. But there are some options that you can take advantage of to skip the hassle of travel and putting your new pieces together.

Let’s take a walk through the ways Lacks can see you and your furniture through the last steps between the showroom and the living room.

Pick-Up VS Delivery: What’s the Difference?

At a glance, it seems fairly obvious. Here are the short versions:

Merchandise pick-up means…

  • You pick up your furniture in your own vehicle.
  • You stay in your vehicle while the furniture is loaded.
  • You head home and assemble the furniture yourself.

Delivery and set-up means…

  • We unbox, assemble, and inspect your furniture.
  • We deliver the furniture to your home.
  • We set your furniture up in whatever prepared location you pick out.

Pretty straightforward. But let’s zoom in on the details.

What does it cost?

It’s free!

Where do I go?

To do your own pick-up, there are two options. If the items are ready, they can be picked up from the store you purchased from or we can transfer them to a preferred location for pick-up. Otherwise, you’ll head to Lacks’ Central Warehouse. The address is:

When should I stop by the warehouse?

The central warehouse is open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM for appointments and walk-ins.

What happens when I get there?

When you arrive at the warehouse:

  1. Enter through Gate 3.
  2. Park in our convenient parking lot and enter our customer pick up lobby. A Lacks associate will take your information and prepare your order to be loaded.
  3. When the transaction is complete, you'll exit through the gate.
  4. Head home to unbox, assemble, arrange, and enjoy your furniture.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

You’ll need:

  • A copy of the furniture’s sales contract.
  • A valid photo ID. Note, the name on the contract must match the name on the ID. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to pick up the merchandise.
  • If you need someone else to pick up your items, you will need to fill out a 3rd party waiver.
  • A vehicle capable of safely carrying your items.

Is there anything else I should know?

There are a few main things to consider.

  1. If you’re bringing home the boxes yourself, it’s important to have one or more vehicles that have the capacity to carry them safely. That can mean having enough internal space to stow the boxes in your trunk or enough space to secure them in the rear of a pickup. Be sure to have bungee cords to fasten the latter down.
  2. Lacks’ furniture arrives disassembled in their boxes. These are not the simple squarish flatpack pieces you snap together in a minute. Because of the amount of detail and construction involved, the pieces you take home from Lacks are intricate furnishings that might take a fair bit of time assembling.
  3. Once you’ve put together your furniture, there’s going to be a good amount of packaging to get rid of. Cardboard, plastic wrap, and polystyrene are recyclable, but if you’re stuck with disposing of the ensuing heap, you’ll have to take it to the recycling plant yourself, or else wind up stuffing it all in the garbage.

Full-Service Delivery with In-Home Set-Up

What does it cost?

The general service fee is usually $129.95.

But from June 21—June 27, Lacks is offering it for free. For the whole week, that means full assembly and inspection of your pieces, professional delivery, and arrangement in your home at no cost.

How do I arrange for a home delivery and set-up service?

If you’re purchasing your furniture directly from the store, you can set up a delivery date in-person with a Lacks representative. Alternatively, online purchases will finish with a calendar where you can select an available delivery date. Prior to arrival, Lacks will contact you by phone to confirm the date, time, and address of the delivery.

What should I do before the delivery truck arrives?

It’s recommended that you arrange your current furniture to allow for easy maneuverability of your new items when our delivery team comes through, as well as clearing the space you want those new items to stand in. For example, if you have a bed that needs to be brought in, make sure the way there is clear of any obstructions like bulky furniture or debris that might trip someone up, and have the old bed already taken out of the room so the team can set your new frame up in one go.

What happens when the delivery truck gets here?

When the Lacks delivery truck arrives, a member of the team will confirm the room and location you want your furniture in, ensuring that the way is clear. Once they confirm these details, our delivery team will bring your furniture in to be arranged in whatever location you designate.

Is there anything else I should know?

A few final things.

  1. When your furniture arrives, it comes packaged with several materials, including cardboard, plastic, and polystyrene. Lacks has made it a point to repurpose, recycle, and dispose of these materials with environmentally friendly methods. Choosing the delivery and set-up service means you can get your furniture delivered all in one piece and not have to worry about what happens to the leftovers.
  2. Once your furniture’s pieces are unboxed, our team puts each item together with professional care, inspects for quality, and ensures that they’re loaded securely in our spacious delivery trucks. No matter the size or scale, a safe ride from the warehouse to your front door is guaranteed.
