“The Greatest Threat to Our Planet Is the Belief That Someone Else Will Save It”- Robert Swan.

Have you ever thought about your environmental footprint?

Really, really thought about your consumption and its impact on planet Earth? From a discarded plastic shampoo bottle to the gas we pump in our cars, the seemingly mundane choices we make every day affect our planet's resources.

At Lacks, we recognize the importance of our choices.

Our business is providing you with what you need to make your house your home. Shipment after shipment of stylish furniture and accessories come through our warehouse doors, making their way to our stores and to your homes. But what about all the packaging waste? For more than a decade now, we have been consistently and actively improving our recycling efforts.

Between boxes and styrofoam, can you imagine how much packaging waste we produce each year?

The answer is a lot. But, the good news is that we recycle 95% of all that solid waste.
To give you an idea here is a breakdown of how much we are recycling per year:
Cardboard 580 tons
Styrofoam 61 Tons
Plastic 42+ Tons

Polystyrene foam, commonly known as Styrofoam, may take thousands of years to biodegrade in a landfill. We took the measures necessary to dispose of our waste responsibly, and we found that by recycling all the Styrofoam that no longer serves us, we are helping our planet immensely. The process of recycling these materials is straightforward, but it does require industrial equipment. For that reason, Lacks encourages the community to drop off Styrofoam, plastics, and cardboard at our facility so we may process it for recycling!

Our planet is beautiful.

We need to remember that it is not infinite and to preserve it we need to take care of its resources and be conscious about our consumption. Lacks is proud to be taking big steps for a smaller footprint. That is our pledge to the Earth. What steps are you taking to reduce your environmental footprint?
